 Anyone who has heard Sev Statik knows he's a brilliant and gifted emcee and lyricist.
After waiting more than five years to put out a solo album, he finally gets the chance to show off his distinctive style on "Speak Life", his debut on Uprok Records.
A member of the Tunnel Rats and Deepspace 5 crews, Sev has an off-the-wall sense of humor, which is balanced unexpectedly by a serious and spiritually conscious side.
His production is handled by Tunnel Rat mainstay Dert, Peace 586, Dave Digler, and DJ Cheapshot (of Linkin Park remix fame), and guest emcees on his songs include Deepspace 5 member Listener, as well as established Tunnel Rat acts New Breed, Zane, LPG and Raphi, and new members DOKument and Propaganda.
On his tracks, Sev's moods go from intellectual to festive; from witty to solemn. On many of the songs, his words are like those of an urban poet blessed with the eloquence to provide a unique and truthful insight into society's quirks.
"Speak Life is just some old 'bob-ya-head'-type music," Sev says. "I ain't trying to save the universe, but my music is about upliftment for all people."
Sev's vision for his music has remained consistent since the beginning of his career. Aggressively touring the Northeast, Sev looks to continue to captivate audiences from all walks of life, all the while... Speaking Life.
